For basic printing functionality use the <a
href="http://hpinkjet.sf.net/">HPIJS
driver </a>. For advanced functionality such
as printer status and maintenance features, use the
<a href="http://hpinkjet.sf.net/">
HPLIP driver</a> (which includes HPIJS). <p>
This printer only works "Perfectly" in the PCL mode
(ljet3/ljet3d GhostScript drivers).<p>
Same as a IIIP, just with a postscript cartridge.<p>
Under Red Hat "install a printer" and select
"PostScript" as the printer.<p>
lpr installs and uses the Gnu Magicfilter by default.<p>
High quality print.<p>
Some pdf documents do not translate to a PostScript file that this
printer can print, even if Level 1 is explicitly selected on the
xpdf command line. Same result with Adobe Acroreader. May be
related to the age of the PS cartridge (1991).<p>
The old PS cartdrige cannot handle the output of some recent
applications.<p>
Using the ljet3 and ljet3d Ghostscript drivers can speed up
printing because your PC can do the converting from PS to ljet
much faster than the PS Cartridge<p>
In PS mode, input trays can be selected by the following PS
command: 'statusdict /setpapertray known {statusdict begin 0
setpapertray end} if {} pop' where '0' is the first
tray, '1' the second.
